So….last week…in the evenings it was getting cool and I know some people around here were itching to get the fall things out. FF to this week and it’s back in the 90’s and when we went to bed last night it was still 85. Summer’s not over, people!
BUT – if you can’t stand it – how about decorating all out FALL on THIS adorable little mantle?!
This set reminds me of a set we had waaaaay back in the 90s that was a fireplace builder. We called it country then….it’s all Farmhouse now.
I set my modern farmhouse against a very trendy Shiplap wall. I was tempted to whitewash the ‘wood’ lol – but decided to leave that for the Christmas card we will be doing in the online class.
The 90’s would have given us a lot of grapevine and raffia – but being 2020 *hush* this bundle comes with super adorable banners. Seriously – not just this one – make sure to check them all out!
Sometimes it’s ok to copy an idea that you have used in the past. Two years ago I was stamping with Country Lane and it has some cotton bud stems in the set. I added some wisps of q tips to them and the stamping world went wild, lol. This set has ‘sticks’ – so I decided to do the same. Here is the past project
Here is the link to that blog post (it also has some Blends techniques – they were new then!)
Country Lane and Country Home Holiday Catalog Sneak Peek: Get Your Cotton Farmhouse Fill!
Make sure to check back tomorrow to see a whole NEW idea with the sticks!
My first card didn’t include the clock…nor the tiny vases. But before photographing them I felt the mantle could use one more thing. I stamped the two tiny vases and added one of the leaves to the front. I used the Color Lifter to give them a mottled look.
I was pleased with the result.
Finally – it was an obvious choice to lay the pumpkins at the base of the fireplace, but it made it too bottom heavy of a card. I moved them to the mantle – it left the entire top needing ‘somthing’. AND my picture still needed something on it. As the kids say – I went ‘basic’ and made the standard autumn framed art pumpkin picture and it was the perfect balance in both color and placement.
AND FYI…..Pumpkin Spice Lattes were out yesterday!
Stop back tomorrow for a completely different look with this set. And go sign up for the class!
Here is what I used….watch the video for the complete list of blends colors
