Just as the last of my Magnolia blooms fall off my tree – here is a paper one that can last all year long!
Magnolia Trees are funny up North. Most years in Indiana we have a few warm days long before it is meant to be warm and it tricks these Southern Beauties into thinking it’s time to do their thing. The Blooms come out and then it gets cold again, resulting in frost bitten brown tips to our flowers. This year the one benefit to it staying cold all season long was there was no fooling the plants. Everything is blooming now. When it’s (hopefully) safe from any last freezes.
We had our house built in 1999 and moved into it in late fall. I will always remember because of the Y2K scare. I was praying we didn’t do all this moving work to have the whole world go offline and sit in a new house without electricity. The internet we could have lived without….I mean it was still dial up – and not even really a thing – my, how our world has changed. I bought our magnolia tree at the grocery store on clearance in a little pot. $1.
There are just a couple of stragglers hanging on the top.
The leaves are doing a nice job of appearing – our native trees – they are looking at the Southern girls and saying “Hold Your Horses, honey” It is stillllllll April – but only just, right?
My $1 investment has done quite nicely. We paid a few hundred dollars to have a tree planted out the back last year. No signs of life on it yet this spring. Ug. Glad it has a warranty!
When the new catalog comes to you (if you don’t know how you are going to get one – keep reading – at the bottom of this post – I will tell you how!), you will see that there are new Collections available. This one comes with a stamp set and a Designer Series Paper set that is FULL of lovely greens! My tree goes perfectly with that!
Here is Heather’s card as she designed it. I didn’t realize I had a picture of it, but thankfully I snapped one to send to a friend to show our progress as we were mad stamping! That is the ribbon as it was intended, lol.
The stamps do have a die set – while the dies cut out the images – they also make a BEAUTIFUL 3D magnolia flower! That will be such fun (and so very on trend) to create.
The Memories and More Specialty cards are larger – the pretty debossed edges add such an elegant touch as does the envelope insert. The card pack is stunning – you will need to wait a couple of weeks for me to get that on video!
Back in the dark ages (you know even BEFORE dial up, lol) and I was first stamping – embossing on vellum and then coloring on the back with our markers was all the rage. It is still just as lovely as ever.
