Last Spring – March – I did a quick Facebook Live to show how I was dying spools of my FAVORITE ribbon so I would have enough in Old Olive to use for a Demonstrator Event we had coming up. It was a quick hop on to show how I was doing it and other colors that I had done. It became one of my most popular posts ever!
I still have people find one of the ‘parts’ of the posts and ask for the other steps. Since it is a dying process and since FB tends to scatter things I decided to do one video and link the whole thing together to be able to easily direct people to one place to find it.
Before I give you the tutorial it just so happens that on the Vanilla Tulle is on the Clearance Corner right now – I am sure it won’t last long. Once it is dyed – you can not tell ANY difference between if it started out white or vanilla – so go snag some at this great price! Hit the link at the top of the page here to shop my store and you will see the Clearance Rack front and center once you are there! Do it NOW! Make sure to use the Host Code to take advantage of all of the specials I have going on this week!
Now – here is the process to get Ribbon in any of the Stampin’ Up! Colors!
I generally dye 3-5 colors at a time. If you are going to go to the trouble – then you might as well make it worth your while. And – it’s just so much fun!!
I often pick the colors I am going to use based on the current offerings of Designer Series Papers I plan to use over the next few weeks. Here I am doing Rococco Rose. I also did some Flamingo and Blueberry to match the Snowmen papers! If you have refills of retired colors, you can also ‘bring back’ ribbon that is no longer available!
I give you lots of tips (speaking from experience!) in the video, so while your clearance ribbon is shipping to you – watch and make sure you are ready to go!
There are multiple ways to color ribbon – this is one that I find most time and cost effective if you need colored ribbon for large projects, for classes or just in your favorite color to have handy.
You can color it with Blends – which if it is for one project and not a class – that works. But dollar to dollar – a few drops of ink refills is a much more cost effective way than sucking the ink out of your Blend and potentially damaging your tip.
Again – I KNOW – there are other ways (I have been at this a minute…well however minutes are in 25 years of demonstrating, lol). This post is about sharing this ONE way – so no need to let me in on all the others! This method also does not work on all the types of Stampin’ Up! ribbon – so sometimes you might need to use your Blends! It’s all like a big science experiment. Plus a chance to get your hands nice and dirty! Give it a try – start with your favorite color and have some fun!
