How to CASE a Card: Mercury Pumpkin to Mercury Christmas Tree

I am doing 1 or 2 more cards before moving on to my August Stamp camp projects from the Holiday Catalog.  This week is a little off kilter with some appointments and things in the middle of the week that won’t have me on my normal schedule – camp isn’t til next week…and I am just itching to use more of the new things.  I will do a couple more that I can show you…but then I will have to focus on some upcoming events we have – and those cards and projects will all be just for the stampers attending those.  We have INStage the first weekend of September….so looking forward to that!  It’s for Demonstrators and all things Holiday Catalog.  In their packet of goodies they will all get the Perfectly Plaid stamp set!!  The pumpkin card I did last week proved to be pretty popular – so I thought why not copy it with the set they will get?  When they all get home they can super easily whip it up and have a sample ready to go!

Here’s how to “design” a card when you feel like the only thing you can do is copy….. (side note – do this long enough and next thing you know – you WILL be designing on your own!)

In the video you see the card a little better – the Mercury Glass Acetate paper is super fabulous….just a little hard to photograph!

As with the Pumpkin Card – I let the Ribbon Choice dictate the entire color scheme of the card!  The new Real Red Curly Ribbon has such great texture – this card has texture galore!

If you watch the Tutorial video you will see the basic overall elements of this card and the pumpkin card are pretty much the same.  Different Color – although I did toy with the idea of a Pink Tree.  I collect little vintage pink Christmas trees – so Pink Trees are my thing!   I swapped the sequins for rhinestones.

When I design Christmas cards I often consider that you might be making multiples.  So I try to do it so you can mass produce in steps over a few days or even nights while watching some Hallmark Christmas movies!

This card fits that.  You can stamp and punch Christmas trees.  Tie Ribbons, Stamp Merry, Scuff edges, Die cut Christmas – and once you have all your bits and pieces done spend one night assembling.
