Amazon Finds for Shimmer Technique
Don’t you love when you ‘stumble’ on a new (to you) technique? In May I went with friends for a fun couple of days in northern Indiana to an event done by Stampin’ Up!
While there I learned this fun way to use masking paper. Unfortunately just after that weekend my life was thrown into a bit of turmoil and I had forgotten all about it…and unfortunately I can’t remember the fabulous demonstrator’s name who share the demonstration with us.
I am not sure if she came up with it on her own…but if you know who it was, let me know and I will add her name here.
When I pulled out this new Prairie Grass Online Exclusive set, I KNEW I had to try it with this technique. Once you see it, you will need to try it too!
Isn’t that such fun? I had only used the masking paper once or twice in very uninspired ways, so it was nice to have this creative purpose to pull it out.
I have talked about the Cloud Cover ink before here and in some videos. You will see that I used it on this card because it is a fabulous color and perfect for my ‘sky’
I do have a full sized ink pad as they were available “as is” to Demonstrators. Because of the flaw of the ink reacting to the foam and changing the color they are not up to SU standards to sell.
That said, you CAN purchase the ink refill and fill an empty stamp pad OR get the uninked spots and do the same. Both would work with the Blending Brush. Note, if you choose to fill a foam pad, your color may also drift from the original over time.
You can see mine is still a great shade of Cloud Cover. If it starts to turn to something else I plan to fully rinse my pad and simply reink it and start over.
Don’t forget the final touch and a flick of Wink of Stella. It really adds something to the final look.
