A few weeks ago I posted the card and video above – when I made the card – I used brusho to color the die cut flowers – that resulted in a beautiful ‘scrap’ (well – an intended scrap – I used Shimmery White Cardstock!) I promised you the second card in the series…..but there have been so many new things sitting on my table that it has taken me a bit to get around to posting the video – so HERE is the second card in the series!
Before the Color Refresh I tended to view the Brusho selection as a more jewel/earth tone selection – but adding the background colors of Mango and Poppy REALLY gives a new life to them and makes them so much brighter!
I get asked a LOT about my Big Shot. Everyone’s Big Shot is a little different. In fact – I own 2. One of them if my favorite. All Big Shots tend to have a ‘sweet spot’ and on my favorite – the sweet spot just seems to cover a larger area. If you are still using the old platform with the swinging (hinged) adaptor, I highly recommend you replace it with the newer one. You can see from my video that even with a more intricate die, I don’t spend time poking it out. Your dies “should” pop out (sometimes they take a bit of poking, but they shouldn’t take a lot of time). The new platforms have a raised center. Place your more intricate dies in the center. Run the die twice thru cutting side down, flip it and run it again twice again cutting side up. BEFORE you pull it out give it a glance, you should be able to tell that it has cut – otherwise send it back once again. If your cutting plates and REALLY cut up, they may not be offering enough resistance – I know you still have ‘fun’ stuff on your list – but – really – just buy some new plates! NOTHING ruins a stamping session faster than 30 minutes trying to poke your die cut out!
If you missed the FIRST card in the series to see how I created the background for this card – HERE is the video for that:
and here you can read all about that first card in the series!
We made these cards in May when I had my demonstrator team over for my new catalog stamp time! Before every new catalog comes out I have my girls over and I have 81-12 projects for them featuring all new product. They just show up (maybe with some food and some swaps) and stamp! If you are in the Indianapolis area and that sounds like something that you would like to do……THEN do I have a deal for you!! Starting today – if you purchase a demonstrator starter kit – you get an ENTIRE FAMILY of ink pads absolutely FREE! That is nearly a $70 savings!!
If you are not local – that’s fine too! As part of my meetings we do a Facebook Live so you don’t miss out. I mail out an assortment of the finished projects to those who couldn’t make it (so some of my girls got these cards!) I even let you know WHAT stamps we might be using on the Facebook Live demo’s if you want to have those on hand to stamp along with us from wherever you are!! All year round our group if active online. You can read more about the special HERE
If you do have any questions – contact me! In fact – BEFORE you would sign up – contact me, we have a preorder special for August – and if you would like – you could include that as part of your kit!
Some other fun July specials include the popular Buy 3 Get 1 free DSP – which I have a limited club and project club that will end this week tied to that. ALL of the BLENDS are now available to be ordered!! So if you find you need all of the new colors (yes, please!) – you can get those anytime you like! I hope to have an email out as early as Monday with details on all of this, so make sure you on my email list!
Along with the Designer Series Paper Special – I have set a goal for myself to post ONE card per day that features the papers that are part of the sale on my Instagram. If you want ideas – then follow me there (Or on Facebook, the 2 accounts are tied together, so once it posts to Instagram it should show up not long after on Instagram!) In fact – if you like, comment, and follow along enough during the month that I NOTICE you – at month’s end I may message you for your address – and send you a card that was featured!!
Finally – in case you feel like perhaps you are having deja vu’ and you have seen ME DO these cards before….. Well, sometimes, I do copy myself! Back in the winter when Brusho was still fairly new to me – the card above WAS literally a piece of scrap from the card below. You can see the card on the right – the flowers are much more smudged around. I was creating the card below and there was not any true scrap paper. But as many demonstrators do – I have SO MUCH white cardstock, that it was sitting there and laziness won out. When I was finished with the card I intended – I realized the background I created was too pretty to throw out. Thus my ‘reverse brusho’ technique was born. Don’t let anyone tell you that laziness will never get you anything, lol. Those videos are below.
On both of these cards I used Petals and More – which is still available in the catalog!
This July everyone who places any order on my website and uses the Hostess Code
HTKK2666
will receive a FREE container or Basic Brads! (p 198 in the catalog)
