Day Six of our Scottish adventure was one for the record books. We crammed so much in to it. We started the morning off in the beautiful Highland Mountains of Glencoe. This could be one of the most stunning places on earth. We stopped off for a look at Inverary Castle for our own little Downton Abbey experience. We drove through the Trossachs and Loch Lomand to stop for tea where I had lived in the 80s. We had reservations to stay that night in a Bed and … [Read more...] about Wrapping Up Day Six in Scotland Down in the Borders

Dumbarton Scotland – Lunch at Overtoun House
Getting closer to finishing up the pictures from our 2017 Sottish Adventure......challenge is on to get them all done before we leave for Ireland in a few weeks. Unfortunately day 6 is taking several posts, and this one won't finish it up. In 1985-1986, this was my 'driveway' and on this day of our trip we were able to return to have lunch at my old home. The house is open for tea only on weekends, so our driving tour of Scotland had totally been planned so we would end up here on this day … [Read more...] about Dumbarton Scotland – Lunch at Overtoun House
Day 6 in Scotland – Leaving the Highlands – Inveraray
As we made our way from from Glencoe toward the area of Glasgow and Loch Lomand it meant leaving the beauty of the Highlands behind. Inveraray is known as the gateway to the highlands. It appeared to be a charming little place - we were on a bit of a time crunch though and we may not have stopped at all - except.......Ris and I are huge Downton Abbey fans (our cats are named Branson and Sybil!) The Inveraray Castle is where one of the Christmas episodes was filmed. You may … [Read more...] about Day 6 in Scotland – Leaving the Highlands – Inveraray
Scotland Day 6 – Heading towards 'Home" through the Highlands of Glencoe
I was so happy to wake up to the glorious blue sky on Day 6 of our trip through Scotland. It had been my home in 1985 and 1986 and while I had been back to England since that time, this was my first trip back to Scotland since. It was the first trip to the country at all for my husband and daughter. Today was the day that we would not only be driving through the town where I had lived - but the building itself is now open for lunch and tea. We had arranged our day to be … [Read more...] about Scotland Day 6 – Heading towards 'Home" through the Highlands of Glencoe
Back to our Scotland Trip – Finishing Off Day Five! Glenfinnan to Oban
Today we finalized the last of our plans for our spring break trip to Ireland in March. I am determined to get the pictures of our trip to Scotland up BEFORE we leave! Ideally that would include the week in Iceland as well....but considering our recent trips to Australia, Italy and Slovenia are still (mostly) not yet done - I will take what I can get! If you have not read our adventures to this point of the trip, you can do that by clicking here. After our morning hike to see … [Read more...] about Back to our Scotland Trip – Finishing Off Day Five! Glenmoriston, Grouse and Glenfinnan – Scotland Start of Day 5
I can't believe we are up to Day 5 of our Scottish Adventure! If you have missed any of the days up to this point (which include Edinburgh, St Andrews, Stirling and the Isle of Skye - then you can head over here -of course I have not figured out how to load them in reverse....so they are not in Day Order. If anyone has Blogger knowledge on that - I would love a mini tutorial! Anyway - HERE)We overnighted at the most wonderful Bed and Breakfast. Had we known it was so … [Read more...] about Glenmoriston, Grouse and Glenfinnan – Scotland Start of Day 5
Leaving Skye through Loch Ness to Southern Inverness – and is Choc Caramel Slice an Aussie or Scottish invention?
Leaving the Glen we took a look at our list and the hours of daylight left - we already realized that we would be arriving at our Bed and Breakfast in the dark (which we didn't want to do - but on a Stojk trip this is one of our traveling 'rules' that we break nearly every. single. day. Apparently we like driving in the dark without a clue of knowing where we are) We did want to see Eilean Donan maybe in the light and hopefully get some pictures of the fields of deer and stag before … [Read more...] about Leaving Skye through Loch Ness to Southern Inverness – and is Choc Caramel Slice an Aussie or Scottish invention?
Fairy Glen (Uig), Isle of Skye Scotland – still…..on Day 4 of our Scotland Trip
A couple of weeks ago we went to the movies to see Disney's Brave. As a mom, let me say, Disney does not treat us very well at all. In Brave at least the mom gets to live (because how many of their heroines are orphans??), but seriously Merida - she is Queen and she has lived a tad bit longer than you. Might I suggest you listen to her? That said - it has one fantastic sound track and the art crams all of the Scottish wonders into the small little area that is their … [Read more...] about Fairy Glen (Uig), Isle of Skye Scotland – still…..on Day 4 of our Scotland Trip
Today It's Back to Scotland!
In June I quit my office job with a goal to give focus to my own business again. July was spent traveling on some vacations with both of my sisters and my family and then in August it was "back to work". This month I was part of a challenge to blog every single day. And it has been just that - a challenge! This week has been so busy....then my phone updated and my watermark app no longer functions. I had 2 different groups of ladies here yesterday - and - well - I … [Read more...] about Today It's Back to Scotland!
Day 4 – Isle of Skye: Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock and the Quiraing
Day 4 of our Scotland tripThe goal today was to see as many sites as possible on the Isle of Skye. We had prayed for good weather - a quick look on the internet and you will find there are plenty of people who have shared their one day on the Isle - and were in fog, rain and brutal wind. The sky was incredibly blue for us. It wasn't windy either and as the day progressed it was actually quite warm.We stayed in a delightful bed and breakfast. The family who owns it used to … [Read more...] about Day 4 – Isle of Skye: Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock and the Quiraing
