Day 4 of our Scotland tripThe goal today was to see as many sites as possible on the Isle of Skye. We had prayed for good weather - a quick look on the internet and you will find there are plenty of people who have shared their one day on the Isle - and were in fog, rain and brutal wind. The sky was incredibly blue for us. It wasn't windy either and as the day progressed it was actually quite warm.We stayed in a delightful bed and breakfast. The family who owns it used to … [Read more...] about Day 4 – Isle of Skye: Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock and the Quiraing

Evening of Day Three: The Stunning Castle at Eilean Donan
Our last stop of the day is just before you make it on to the Isle of Skye. I am not sure how long we stayed - maybe 30 minutes or so? And what you see here is a fraction of the pictures that we took while we were there. It was blue and clear, but the sun was starting to set so as you walked from one side to the other the colors changed. It was take your breath away beautiful.Since then I have been rather obsessed with pictures online - you can start HERE and then google … [Read more...] about Evening of Day Three: The Stunning Castle at Eilean Donan
Day Three – the Road to Skye
Day Three trip continues on from Doune Castle and Dunblane Cathedral. If you look at the road map you will see Stirling (where we started that morning). There are really only 2 roads that take you to the Isle of Skye (over in the top left corner). We chose to go via Pitlochery (half way up the map, right hand side) and then go east from there. Our goal was to make it to our B&B before it was "too dark"..... Have I mentioned that street lights in most of the country … [Read more...] about Day Three – the Road to Skye
Day Three in Scotland: First Up – Doune Castle and Dunblane Cathedral
Doune Castle was open in March - but we were up early to start our trip to the Isle of Skye so we were there before it opened. On the 'should we get back one day' list this is a place I would add to see inside if it were open. Outlander was filmed here - and two things I have not seen - Game of Thrones and Monty Python. Here is the laneway out of the Castle. And more of my favorite color - Moss Green! Not far from Doune Caste is Dunblane Cathedral. It is striking. … [Read more...] about Day Three in Scotland: First Up – Doune Castle and Dunblane Cathedral
Stirling and the Scottish Weather!
Day two in Scotland started in Edinburgh. We drove to St Andrews in the morning and after a walk around town there we were off to Stirling. (when I type of my phone it has autocorrected to sterling, ug, keep fixing it but I may have messed one here or there!)The crazy weather day continued. We spent the afternoon at the Castle. These 4 videos were recorded over the space of just a couple of hours - same for the pictures. When we arrived at the Castle - it was … [Read more...] about Stirling and the Scottish Weather!
St Andrews – the birthplace of golf!
Day Two in Scotland - Edinburgh to St Andrews to StirlingIf it's been a minute (or never, lol) since you have looked at a map of Scotland, here is one of the lower 2/3s which is where we were traveling. Scotland is about the size of Indiana. Of course - they have mountains, glaciers, lots of lakes, glens, valleys, hills, coastline, oceans, northern lights while we have meadows and cornfields! We were gone for just over 2 weeks and we slept in a different place every night. The … [Read more...] about St Andrews – the birthplace of golf!
Arriving in Scotland – Edinburgh
This past March we spent a wonderful week in Scotland. Looking back over the pictures - I realize how much we crammed in to each and every day! While we were there I did post several pictures on my Facebook, but wifi was often spotty at best - and I never touched a computer, only my phone, so I plan to add some camera pictures and the details that go with here. We flew via Iceland. The flight from the US to Iceland is not far. We had spent a couple of days in DC, so … [Read more...] about Arriving in Scotland – Edinburgh
